Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Byron Young was fired up from the opening snap in the Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, and the team’s mic’d-up video captures all of it.
“Only one way this goes,” Young says right at the start. He was just as vocal on the sideline when the offense scored first in Vegas on a Matthew Stafford touchdown pass to Davis Allen. Young shouted “Class of 23” at Allen, a reference to the pair’s 2023 draft class.
Before the defense’s big stretch, Young said what the unit needed to do: “Let’s go eat. Let’s go hunt.” Moments later, defensive end Braden Fiske recorded the first sack of the day on Kirk Cousins, and Young followed with one of his own on the next play.
Young finished with six tackles, two solo, a sack and a quarterback
hit. His six tackles tied for the second most on the Rams, behind safety Quentin Lake’s seven.
