When the Los Angeles Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers this season, they’ll see a familiar face rushing the quarterback for Raheem Morris’ defense. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the 49ers are signing former Rams edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo.
The Rams selected Okoronkwo in the fifth round of the 2018 draft and he spent four years in Los Angeles. He played for Morris in 2021 when the Rams won the Super Bowl, so the two are reuniting in Santa Clara for a division rival.
Okoronkwo, 31, has bounced around the league since leaving the Rams in 2022. He played one year for the Texans, two for the Browns (2023-2024) and was a member of the Eagles last season.

He’s managed to play 81 games across seven seasons, recording 17 career sacks and 132 tackles. His best season was in 2022 when he had five sacks and 44 tackles for the Texans, both still standing as career-highs for Okoronkwo.
Okoronkwo has only played against the Rams once, facing them in 2023 as a member of the Browns. He had three tackles in that game but didn’t record a sack.
He’ll get another crack at the Rams in Week 1 when they face the 49ers in Australia.
