NFL insider says Corum could overtake Kyren Williams as Rams' lead RB
Blake Corum might not be the Rams' No. 2 running back for long, according to ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano.
In his 2026 surprise predictions column for all 32 teams, Graziano floated the idea that Corum — who pushed for more carries alongside Kyren Williams a year ago could climb past Williams in the pecking order at some point this season.
From my conversations around this situation, I believe the Rams plan to give Corum more carries than he got last season and bring it pretty close to a 50-50 split, with Williams still nominally in the lead role to open the campaign. But if Corum keeps running the way he did in the second half of last season, and if he closes the gap the coaching
staff still believes exists between him and Williams in pass protection, he could emerge as the 1A to Williams' 1B before the season ends.
Head coach Sean McVay has recently noted that Corum will play a big role in the offense this year after he posted 746 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 145 carries in 2025. Corum averaged 5.1 yards per attempt across all 17 games in the most efficient run game in the NFL on the Rams.
Williams, for his part, remains firmly entrenched as the starter for now. He carried 259 times for 1,252 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in 2025, adding 36 catches for 281 yards and three more scores, and he continues to hold a clear edge as a receiver and in pass protection.
Graziano added that Williams' contract could play into the team's decision at the position. Williams only has $2.3 million guaranteed on his contract in 2027 and none guaranteed in 2028, per Over The Cap. Corum, meanwhile, is still on his rookie deal, although that expires after the 2027 season.
It would be a shock to see McVay move away from Williams after three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, but Corum's potential rise is something to watch throughout the 2026 season.
