The Denver Broncos aren't a familiar opponent for the Los Angeles Rams. They've only met in the regular season five times since 2006, but they'll square off on Sunday night in a crucial matchup for both teams. Each sitting at 1-1, the Rams and Broncos are looking to avoid a disappointing 1-2 start.
To learn more about the Rams' next opponent, we chatted with Broncos Wire writer Brandon Walker. He shed some light on the Davante Adams-Pat Surtain II battle, the Denver defense and shared his prediction for which team will win.
1. Are the Broncos closer to being the Week 1 version of themselves or the Week 2 version?
Broncos Wire: In my heart of hearts, I want to believe the Broncos are closer to their Week 2: come-from-behind aficionados with a flair for the dramatic. But I know the Week 1 version of the team could happen just as easily,
or even worse. We've seen it in the past, and it ain't pretty.
2. Is there an area of Denver’s defense the Rams could exploit?
Broncos Wire: The one area the Broncos have struggled at year in and year out is covering running backs and tight ends. The Broncos allowed nearly 200 yards of offense to Kenneth Walker in Week 1, and allowed several 100-plus-yard games to tight ends in 2025. The simple truth is, the Broncos have been exploited when it comes to linebackers covering tight ends. This could be a game where we see 2025 first-round pick Jahdae Barron cover any of the Rams' game-changing tight ends.
3. Do you expect the Broncos to have Pat Surtain II follow Davante Adams, assuming Puka Nacua doesn’t play?
Broncos Wire: I do see Surtain covering Adams, the Rams' best target without Nacua. Adams and Surtain have had mixed success against each other, which makes it one of the best cornerback-wide receiver matchups of the week.
4. Who’s an underrated player for the Broncos the Rams should know?
Broncos Wire: I could use an offensive player, such as Pat Bryant, but I am actually going to move to the defensive side of the ball. Pass-rusher Que Robinson is one of the players who are in for Jonathon Cooper while he sorts out his alleged legal troubles, and he already has a sack on the year. After a year of sitting out, Robinson has shown real quickness to the quarterback and the ability to have quick pressure off the edge.
5. Who wins on Sunday night?
Broncos Wire: Any fan would want their team to win this game. Both teams have an extremely high ceiling (championship-level on both sides), and this game will be a marker for both teams. We will find out if either team reverts to their Week 1 selves, or if they can overcome their various ailments and hiccups. I think the Rams will win this game, but here is my prediction: it will either be within three points, or a blowout. There is no in-between.
