The Los Angeles Rams made the surprising decision to keep seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster, as Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith, Tutu Atwell, and CJ Daniels make up the unit. There's a lot for Rams fans to be excited about when it comes to this position group.
With MVP Matthew Stafford at the helm, Rams head coach Sean McVay has been able to dial up successful play after play on offense. Recently, McVay spoke about his pass-catching playmakers, detailing why he has confidence they'll live up to lofty expectations this season.
“I feel good," said McVay. "Obviously, I got a lot of confidence in all those guys, but with Davante doing an amazing job leading the way. Obviously, Puka has been incredible
going into his fourth year. And then I got a ton of trust in Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield. Those guys have had really good, strong camps where they've just continued to improve their game.
"I think Xavier Smith has had a really good camp and then CJ Daniels, like I've mentioned to you guys, is a mature rookie. I think they all have complementary skill sets. Each of those guys brings some different, unique things to the table. But it starts with 'Tae' and Puka, and then I think those other guys around them do an amazing job. I got a lot of confidence in those seven guys.”
Nacua led the NFL in receiving yards per game last season, while Adams had the most touchdown catches, doing so for the third time in his illustrious career. On top of their efforts, Mumpfield and Smith had quickly grown within the offense, potentially alluding to 2026 being the year we see McVay once again reinvent the aerial attack.
Adams, the undisputed leader of the room, shared his thoughts on Sunday, stating this team had the most focused wide receiver room that he's ever been a part of.
“We have basically the same room as last year, which helps, having more time together," said Adams. "Just like how a quarterback and receiver work together, we work together out there in the run game, route combination. Being able to be familiar with the way a guy moves or his body language in the run game, that helps a lot. [We're] getting more time together. These guys are the most locked-in group I've ever been a part of, too. All of that just helps it feel really comfortable as you go into Week 1.”
With McVay and Adams agreeing that their receiver depth is a game-changing strength, Los Angeles should once again own the skies.
