Entering their contest against the Philadelphia Eagles
, the Los Angeles Rams' defense was already going to be without Aaron Donald, Myles Garrett, and Jaylen Watson. They needed another player to step up in their absence, especially as they're three of the more physical players the team has on that side of the ball. Outside linebacker Byron Young answered the call and then some, recording six total tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, and three QB hits.Young harassed Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts throughout the contest, helping shut out Philadelphia in the second half. Hurts only threw for 93 yards in the game, while his dual-threat ability was stifled; he put up only 18 rushing yards. Hurts was also without star receiver DeVonta Smith,
while All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley left the game after only two carries.
After the game, fans and media members scrutinized the Eagles' performance, with Hurts' play dividing opinions. Some believe Hurts simply wasn't good enough, and that his track record has been too inconsistent for a top player. Others believe his issues are a result of the people around him and their deficiencies that Hurts has helped cover up.
On the "Speakeasy" show, host Kieran Hickey-Semple, more publicly known as Carebarekieran, launched into a tirade where he criticized Hurts' performance, to the laughter of fellow hosts and NFL veterans LeSean McCoy and Emmanuel Acho.
"Why are we allergic to saying Jalen Hurts didn't play good enough today?" questioned Hickey-Semple. "Why? I'm tired of this s---."
Young came across the video and quote-tweeted it, stating that Hickey-Semple was valid in his frustrations.

It appears that Hurts wasn't the only person who had their Sunday ruined by the Rams' emerging star. Young led the team in sacks last season, and his 3.5 sacks this season top the team again in 2026.
It also has him tied for sixth in the NFL through four weeks.
