Aaron Donald is taking his time and the Los Angeles Rams certainly aren't going to rush him. Donald is deciding whether to come out of retirement or not, something he's been debating since June when the Rams acquired Myles Garrett.
He's barely said anything about his plans and hasn't addressed it publicly, but signs have pointed to him returning to the Rams – including Sean McVay's clear excitement when asked about that possibility. Andrew Whitworth has said before that he thinks Donald will play this season and during Prime's broadcast of Browns-Patriots on Thursday night, Whitworth maintained his confidence in that belief.
"Oh, I think he's playing," Whitworth said. "I think you gotta figure out all the little parts that go into it. ... Listen,
if you put a helmet on and hit a sled, you're playing football. I don't care what you say, you're going to figure it out."
McVay hasn't been as optimistic recently as he once was during training camp, saying that he doesn't want to put any "invisible deadlines" on the situation or force Donald to decide before he's ready. McVay did say, though, that he hopes to have it figured out "sooner than later."
That being said, the Rams are putting plans in place in the event that Donald does return, and in case he decides not to come back.
Donald has had two workouts with the Rams and McVay expects him to have even more before making a decision, so don't be surprised if this goes on for a little while longer.
