Harrison Mevis has yet to land with another team since being cut by the Los Angeles Rams a few weeks ago, but he nearly got his next opportunity in Kansas City. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chiefs brought in three kickers, including Mevis, for a workout. Justin Tucker was one of the others.
After both Mevis and Tucker had “similarly impressive workouts,” the Chiefs went with the veteran Tucker and signed him to their practice squad. Mevis and Tucker were both kept around all day by the Chiefs, according to Rapoport.
This will be Tucker’s first opportunity to kick since 2024 after he served a 10-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy.

The Chiefs still have Harrison Butker, but he's been struggling since the start of last season, missing a total of 15 kicks. He's only 11-for-16 on field goal attempts this season and has missed one PAT, as well.
Mevis was cut by the Rams after going 5-for-9 on his field goal attempts this season, being replaced by Blake Grupe. Grupe then tore his ACL in his first game with the Rams and was replaced by Brandon McManus, who went 5-for-5 on PATs in his debut last week.
