The Los Angeles Rams lost one of their top playmakers in Week 3 when tight end Terrance Ferguson suffered an ankle injury against the Denver Broncos. He was ruled out for Week 4 and subsequently placed on injured reserve, forcing him to miss a minimum of four games.
That means the absolute earliest he’ll be able to return is Week 8 when the Rams host the Chargers at SoFi Stadium.
Sean McVay gave an encouraging update on Ferguson’s timeline during the “Coach McVay Show” Monday, saying he’ll be “ready to go” after four weeks.
“Bummer for Ferg, man. But he’ll be back, he’ll be ready to go after those four weeks,” McVay said.
Ferguson suffered a medial ankle sprain against the Broncos, and the Rams learned it was serious enough to warrant an IR stint.
By placing him on IR, it freed up a roster spot for Los Angeles, too.
Earlier on Monday, McVay shared more information on Ferguson’s status, saying the team won’t rush him back.
“We don't want to rush him back,” he said. “It's going to be at least four games, looking at the way that this ankle is, for him to come back and return to performance. As we got a little bit more information about that medial ankle sprain and what the real timeline looked like based on the kind of athlete and the way that he plays and when we would get him back.”
