Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua left practice early Tuesday with athletic trainer Reggie Scott and didn't finish the day's session, according to The Athletic’s Nate Atkins. Furthermore, Atkins reported that head coach Sean McVay did not have an immediate update on Nacua’s condition and said he was unsure what the issue was at this point.
The development is worth monitoring given Nacua’s injury history and the physical style that has defined his first three NFL seasons. Nacua didn't miss any games as a rookie in 2023 but suffered a significant right-knee injury during training camp in 2024. That injury was aggravated in the season opener, resulting in a PCL sprain and a five-game stint on injured reserve. Nacua also missed time in 2025
after suffering a left ankle sprain against Baltimore, though he ultimately missed just one game and produced a career-best season.
Over his first three seasons, Nacua has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. He's caught 313 receptions for 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns in 44 games, including a 2025 season that finished with an NFL-best 129 receptions on top of 1,715 yards for 10 touchdowns.
Tuesday’s injury also comes at a particularly important time financially. Nacua is entering the final year of his rookie contract, which carries a 2026 base salary of roughly $5.8 million. The Rams are also expected to eventually sign Nacua to an extension, likely following this season if they don't franchise tag him.
For now, though, the Rams’ priority is simply determining what happened. Until McVay and the medical staff provide more information, the severity of Nacua’s latest situation remains unknown.
