After a rough start in the season-opener, Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake has put together an impressive body of work while being the glue for an injured secondary. Despite giving up some key catches in the opener, Lake still came away with a pick in that game.
Lake's play has been so good that he's one of only two safeties in the NFL with a Pro Football Focus grade above 90. The Rams PR team noted that on top of his stellar grade, his coverage grade is the league's best and he’s tied for the lead in pass deflections with seven.

Lake is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Trent McDuffie addition. The duo has formed a strong and versatile partnership that has allowed defensive coordinator Chris Shula to dial up a variety of blitzes and disguised coverages, being able to seamlessly alternate between zone and man.
The linchpin of the defense, according to Shula, Lake's future with the franchise is as bright as ever.
