Sean McVay is in his 10th season as the Los Angeles Rams' head coach, so he's gotten the full run of the ups and downs that come with the role. He's reached the pinnacle as a Super Bowl champion, but he's also suffered some of the most gut-wrenching losses possible.
He and the Rams experienced another one of those on Monday night when they lost to the Buffalo Bills in overtime, 37-34. What made the loss so painful was the fact that they only needed a field goal to win in overtime, only to have Harrison Mevis' 48-yard attempt blocked. Fittingly, the Bills went down the field and kicked a game-winner of their own from 45 yards.
After the game, McVay was visibly angry. He was cutting his answers short during the press conference, perhaps out of fear
that he'd say something he regretted. But he wasn't afraid to admit just how much this loss pissed him off.
"This one is, uh, this is the one – this stings," he said. "It's going to hurt but we can't afford to let it, uh, we can't let this team beat us twice. We're going to have to regroup and reset ourselves.
"It's been a while since I've been this pissed after a game, too."
He was pretty angry after the Rams' loss to the Broncos, but apparently not this furious. Maybe the last time was when the 49ers beat the Rams last season with Mac Jones at quarterback.
A reporter tried to contextualize the loss, given the talent on the other side. But McVay wasn't having it.
"No. None of it makes me feel good right now," he said. "I'm proud of the effort. But none of how I feel is positive, other than I'm proud of the resilience, the guts that our team displayed. But there's no, I don't even know what you want to call it. Congrats to the Bills. I'm excited about how we freaking move forward."

McVay's teams usually respond the right way, just as they did last week in their bounce-back win over the Eagles. We'll see if they can rebound with a win over the Cardinals in Week 6.
