The Tennessee Titans abruptly released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott this week after an incident at practice last Thursday. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Elliott got into an altercation with lineman JC Latham and was told to leave the field.
After doing so, Elliott went to his car to retrieve his gun.
It was at that time when former Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers stepped in to help diffuse the situation. Wilson reports that Franklin-Myers was the peacemaker in this situation, helping talk down Elliott after he went to get his gun.
Fortunately, the incident didn’t escalate any further thanks to Franklin-Myers, and it could’ve been much worse had he not stepped in.
More from Wilson's report: "Elliott went to his
car in the players' parking area to retrieve his gun, presumably to confront Latham with the entire sequence captured by security cameras, per sources. The peacemaker that talked Elliott down, per sources: Titans veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers."

The Rams drafted Franklin-Myers in the fourth round in 2018 out of Steven F. Austin. He only spent one year with the team before being released in 2019 – a surprising decision by the Rams at the time. The Jets claimed him off waivers and he was placed on IR, but he never played a snap that season.
He got a bigger opportunity with the Jets in 2020 and recorded three sacks to go with 19 total tackles, eventually signing a four-year, $55 million extension with New York in October of 2021. He was traded to the Broncos in 2024 and then signed a three-year, $63 million contract with the Titans this past offseason.
In nine seasons, Franklin-Myers has 35.5 sacks and 37 tackles for a loss, going on to have a productive career after being cut by the Rams.
