In Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams wide receivers Davante Adams and Konata Mumpfield were electric. Adams put together his second straight game with over 100 receiving yards, while Mumpfield had a career night and scored the longest touchdown of his career.
Combining for 11 receptions, 230 yards and one touchdown, they finished as the team's top two pass catchers for the evening. Since both players joined the team in 2025, they've formed a close bond and helped each other in their preparations, with Adams taking on a mentor role.
Thus, when asked about Mumpfield's performance, Adams spoke about how proud he was of the second-year receiver, praising his work ethic and ability to adapt to the complex Sean McVay offense.
“I'm proud
of him," said Adams. "He works hard and he's one of the most attentive young players that I've been around as far as just wanting to get better and understand details of the position. Just all around, he plays X, F, Z. He literally plays every position. There's not a lot of players that are able to do that, let alone get asked to do that by a coach like Sean.
"He delivers and he comes in here and does nothing but live up to whatever it is that they're asking of him so to see him have a game like that – and obviously the touchdown was awesome – but just the way he plays in general. Going in there digging out safeties and just playing hard and adopting that selfless mentality that we have here, especially in our room. I'm just proud of him.”
The Rams have continually praised Mumpfield for his efforts as a blocker in the past. Now, he's getting the chance to prove his playmaking ability. With multiple injuries affecting the tight end room, the Rams could be forced to use 11 personnel at a higher rate. That will likely increase Mumpfield's utilization.
Mumpfield has five catches for 105 yards and one score on the season.
