The Los Angeles Rams have a potential gem waiting in the wings, as offensive lineman Keagen Trost has impressed so far. The third-round rookie was one of college football's best in 2025, and the team is optimistic that he'll be able to play every position on the offensive line.
Despite Trost's limited play due to a hamstring injury, The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue named him as one of her 15 "future hits" – players drafted in the second round or later that are generating buzz around the league.
Here's what Rodrigue wrote about the Rams' young lineman:
Trost injured his hamstring in the preseason but should be back by October. While he’ll back up starter Warren McClendon for now, McClendon is entering a contract year. Coaches and scouts were really
impressed by Trost throughout training camp, with optimism that he could eventually be a longer-term starter in the vein of Rob Havenstein, the right tackle who played 11 seasons for the franchise before retiring last spring.
Rodrigue was able to get some opinions on Trost from people around the NFL. The main takeaway was that Trost has the gifts and talent to thrive in the Rams' developmental program, with an AFC scout and NFC executive highlighting his power.
AFC scout: “Big, strong and powerful. Another mid-round offensive lineman that L.A. will maximize.”
NFC executive: “Proved (his) power is real and is calm, balanced and poised.”
On top of McClendon, the three starters on the interior offensive line are set to be free agents after this season, while left tackle Alaric Jackson could be subject to a suspension due to an offseason arrest. That prompts the reality that Trost will be a pillar for the franchise in the coming years, potentially even getting playing time as a rookie this season.
