The Los Angeles Rams have barely gotten a glimpse of their prized offseason acquisition, Myles Garrett, since trading for him in June. He missed most of training camp and pre-season practices leading up to Week 1, and after the opener against the San Francisco 49ers, he underwent knee surgery.
He's been on IR ever since, missing the last five games. Sean McVay has already ruled him out for Week 7, which will mark six consecutive games missed for the Rams superstar. Still without a clear return timeline, it begs the question of when Garrett will suit up for the Rams again.
Sean McVay will give an update eventually but in the meantime, NFL insiders are sharing their best guesses. ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote in his column on Wednesday that Garrett
is "likely out another two or three weeks at least." It's unclear if he's reporting inside info from sources or giving an estimate, but either way, he doesn't expect Garrett back in Week 8, either.
Anyway, even with a 2-4 record, four games out of first place in their division, Adams out at least six weeks and Garrett likely out another two or three weeks at least, this is a Rams team that had the highest of hopes for 2026 and still believes it can play well enough to salvage this season.
Ian Rapoport said on ESPN's "NFL Live" Tuesday that while Garrett will not return this week, he'll be back "probably next week."
"Myles Garrett, not back this week, probably next week," Rapoport said.
Bleacher Report's James Palmer seems more in line with what Rapoport is reporting, saying that the Rams will try for next week with Garrett.
“Myles Garrett, still not going to practice this week," Palmer said. "He obviously had that knee procedure after that game that they played in Australia. They’re going to see if he can get on the practice field next week. If he can’t practice this week, we obviously know he’s not going to play this week. They’re going to circle back on that heading into Week 8.”
The Rams are visiting the Las Vegas Raiders this week and will host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8. They don't have a bye until Week 11, which is just before their Thanksgiving Eve game against the Green Bay Packers. Hopefully Garrett can return before then because at 2-4, the Rams must keep winning in order to maintain their hopes of making the playoffs.
