Aaron Donald has been working out and training on his own in preparation for a potential return to the NFL, but Wednesday's workout was a bit different. According to the official transaction wire, the Los Angeles Rams hosted Donald for a workout on Wednesday.
This is different than him training at the Rams' facility in Woodland Hills. This is an official workout with the team, much like the way organizations bring in free agents for tryouts.
Donald has been retired since the end of the 2023 season, sitting out the last two years in retirement. But with the Rams now building a superteam, he's entertaining the idea of returning for the 2026 campaign. It would be his first time playing an NFL game in nearly three years.

The Rams are very much open to Donald coming back but they aren't pressuring him into doing so. This is his decision and his decision alone, so it's up to the future Hall of Famer to determine whether he wants to play again.
Sean McVay said recently that things are "trending upward" toward Donald returning, and this is the latest step in the process that could signal him playing for the Rams again.
