The Los Angeles Rams have witnessed All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams turn back the clock on his illustrious career, as his increased workload has led to tremendous production in the last two weeks. He smoked 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II last week after having his best game as a Ram the week before against the New York Giants.
On Wednesday, Adams was asked about recording 100-plus yards in back-to-back games for the first time since 2024. During his response, Adams stated that the stats mean little to him and that winning is the ultimate goal. More than happy to do his part when called upon, the NFL's leader in touchdown catches last season pointed to a quote from teammate Jordan Whittington to describe his mentality as a player.
“I walked into [last week’s] game knowing the type of player I am so I don't necessarily need a 100-yard game to validate what I can do on the field," said Adams. " ... I've said it a few times over the last couple of weeks where I've been asked to have those types of games in order for us to have success. Coming to a team like this where you have playmakers literally at every single position, it's not necessary. If it is necessary and I'm called on, then I'll go and answer the bell on that.
"Whatever my game or my role looks like for whatever the situation is, I try to live up to that. If my role is to go out and have 15 targets and go make it happen for the team to have a chance to win, then I'm down to do that as well. Whatever is necessary is – 'J-Whit' has a quote, actually. It's one of my favorite quotes. Somebody asked him on a podcast what he does for a living and he said, 'Whatever it takes.' That's kind of the mentality where it's like, whatever we need as a team, I'm down to do. "If I need to have 200, then I'll set out to do that. It doesn't always happen that way, but I'm ready for it. If it's a 50-yard game and a ‘tud,' then whatever it takes.
That whatever-it-takes attitude is the exact reason why the Rams wanted to add him last offseason. As he continues to excel, Adams is establishing himself as one of the best players to represent the franchise during the Sean McVay era.
Outside of Matthew Stafford and the starting offensive line, no player was on the field for more offensive snaps than Adams, who played 71 out of the 86 plays. As their No. 1 pass catcher with Puka Nacua out, Adams has hauled in 15 receptions for 332 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games.
