Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams' offense were off early in Sunday's game against the Chargers. They didn't pick up a first down on their first five drives, with Stafford throwing an ugly interception on a pass toward Konata Mumpfield.
But just before halftime, they got things rolling with an up-tempo drive that went for a touchdown to grab a 10-9 lead at the break. Stafford is the ultimate leader and competitor for the Rams, never giving up, even when the offense is struggling.
That was evident in a couple of mic'd-up videos from Sunday's game, where he took the blame for his interception to Mumpfield.
"Just throw it away, huh?" he muttered to himself.
"Mump, that's on me. You're good, bud. I'll sail it out of bounds," he said to Mumpfield.
"I'm not into excuses."
He then got his guys fired up.
"It's a 60-minute game for a reason. You feel me?"
"This guy's just trying to run people over man."

Puka Nacua was once again the spark plug of the offense, catching 11 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. Stafford loved the physicality and aggressiveness from his top receiver, complimenting his willingness to lower his shoulder into defenders near the goal line.
"This guy's just trying to run people over, man," he said to Davante Adams about Nacua. "I thought you were going to go 'uh' and jump."
He and Tyler Higbee had a good laugh about Aaron Donald's botched fumble recovery, too, acknowledging how hard it is to bend down and scoop a ball up at their age.
