Myles Garrett has missed a lot of time this summer. He was somewhat limited in training camp due to some lower body soreness, and then knee swelling popped up that caused him to sit out both joint practices with the Cowboys and Saints.
He’s been sidelined for the last three-plus weeks due to knee swelling and on Monday, he remained out of practice
– just before the Rams get three straight days off from Tuesday to Thursday.Sean McVay doesn’t see any reason to panic and says Garrett is “making really good progress,” with the goal all along being Week 1.
“He is doing good. He is making good progress,” McVay said Monday. “You would know more about the sleeve than me. I didn't notice that he had a different sleeve on, but he's making really good progress.
Like we've said, goal all along has been Australia and he’s doing a lot of stuff outside of what you guys see and looking forward to getting him back out there.”
The Rams always take it slow with injured stars, choosing not to rush them back out of fear of making things worse. They’re certainly taking that approach with Garrett in his first season with the team, doing everything possible to ensure he’s ready for the opener in Australia.
There are no indications that he’s in any danger of missing that game against the 49ers, but the longer he remains out, the more concerning this will get. Sitting on a 16-hour flight to Melbourne probably won’t help his knee feel any better, either.
Ideally, he’ll be back on the field for practice Friday when the Rams return from their brief break.
