After the first week of NFL action, fantasy owners are racing to retool their teams. Some launch into rebuilds that define the term "overcorrection," while others are looking to make one or two changes in their lineup based on the opening week.
One player who has questions surrounding him is Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson. Ferguson was touted as the team's next offensive star, but after receiving only one target and failing to make an impact on the stat sheet, some owners are already dumping him, especially with Colby Parkinson remaining the starter.
On the flip side, other owners aren't even giving Ferguson a second look, which could lead to the pass catcher becoming an underrated pickup for Week 2. According to ESPN's Eric Karabell,
Ferguson is only rostered in 27.5% of leagues, and with his potential upside, Karabell sees his production picking up as the season goes on.
"If you liked Ferguson heading into the season -- and so many of us did -- do not abandon him just because he did nothing in Week 1," wrote Karabell. "The Rams played one bad game. Los Angeles remains an elite offense, and Ferguson is teeming with upside."
This is likely the right call, and after the 49ers took away the downfield pass from the Rams in Week 1, other defenses are expected to do the same. Thus, Ferguson could be in position to be targeted repeatedly underneath with his size and ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.
Ferguson played 31 out of 61 offensive snaps in the season opener, so he was on the field plenty. He just saw minimal action as a receiver.
