What is the story about?

The Los Angeles Rams have set their initial 53-man roster, but it’s bound to change between now and Week 1. That’s because teams are allowed to claim players who were recently waived, adding them to their active roster. However, that’s only if another team higher in the waiver order doesn’t claim that player first.

Players who do not have four accrued seasons in the NFL are subject to waivers, meaning they are not free agents who can sign with any team initially. They will first need to clear waivers before becoming free agents.

Players with at least four accrued seasons are not subject to waivers and will become free agents after being cut.

The current waiver order is based on the original 2026 draft order before trades. It’s a reverse order of

the final standings, with the worst teams highest in the waiver order.
