After being the story of the offseason, the NFL has stopped talking about Myles Garrett due to an injury and subsequent surgery that has sidelined him since Week 1. With his knee issue, Garrett was a non-factor in his opener, and on Friday, the Los Angeles Rams stated they have no timeline for his return.
Missing the last two games on injured reserve, Garrett would only have to wait two more weeks until he's eligible to return. However, head coach Sean McVay provided an update. There's no return date, but Garrett has looked hungry in rehab, and continues to be a part of team meetings as he works towards his return.
“I've seen him in there," said McVay. "He physically looks good. He has a good look in his eyes. It's been great having him in and
out of a lot of the different meetings while he's attacking his rehab. He’s making good progress, but as far as a specific timeline, not ready to be able to give you guys that. As soon as I have those things, I'll give you guys updates.”
The Rams traded for Garrett this offseason, sending away Pro Bowler Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. Even if Garrett returns as soon as he's eligible, he will miss the most games due to injury he's had in a season since his 2017 rookie year.
However, Los Angeles is hopeful he'll be ready for the ending portion of the season and postseason, as they severely lacked a pass rush during that time last season.
