Matthew Stafford has long been one of the better players in the NFL, but since being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, he’s taken his career to new heights. Now a Super Bowl champion and MVP winner, Stafford has earned his flowers after years of futility in Detroit.
On Tuesday, the league announced that Stafford landed at No. 4 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players list for 2026, his highest ranking ever.
That’s up 55 spots from last year when he was voted the 59th-best player in the league. His previous high was No. 27 in 2022 after his Super Bowl season with the Rams. Stafford is one of three Rams in the top 10, and one of two in the top four. Puka Nacua was No. 7, and Myles Garrett is either first, second or third.

Stafford is entering his age-38 season, but there have been no signs of him slowing down. He's been healthy all offseason and is coming off an MVP campaign where he was clearly the best quarterback in football, leading the league with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes.
If he can come close to replicating his performance from last season, the Rams will be in the mix for another Super Bowl.
Despite nearing the end of his career, Stafford remains one of the best pure passers in the NFL.
