The Los Angeles Rams made the bold decision this offseason to trade Jared Verse to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett. There’s no question Garrett is the better player right now, but Verse does have an edge in one area.
Browns star cornerback Denzel Ward has now played with both of them, and he shared the biggest difference between the two. It’s not their differing skill sets, but instead, their leadership styles.
“Definitely brought a lot of juice and just mentality, as well,” Ward said of what Verse brings. “Myles is a heck of a player, great player, but I think Jared, he’s more vocal, more of a vocal player, vocal leader out there for us. Since the first day he stepped in the building, just yelling, screaming and making his mark out there in meetings
and on the practice field, kind of rallying guys. So definitely respect who he is as a player and the way he approaches the game and how he brings guys along.”

It’s hardly surprising to hear that Verse has already established himself as a vocal leader in Cleveland. He was outspoken from the jump in Los Angeles, whether it was with teammates on the practice field or trash-talking offensive linemen on Sundays.
He’s not afraid to speak his mind, no matter who’s on the receiving end. Garrett is still considered a leader and was voted a captain in his first season with the Rams, so players look to him as a veteran presence in the locker room – even while on injured reserve.
