Davante Adams played against Trent McDuffie when the two were in the AFC West from 2022-2024, but he’s gotten an up-close look at the star cornerback this year now that they’re teammates in L.A.
And Adams couldn’t be more impressed by the former Chiefs cornerback. Having gone up against him in practice and watching him in the Rams’ first two games of the season, he’s blown away by McDuffie’s skill set.
In an interview on “Up & Adams” this week, Adams called McDuffie the best cornerback in the league and said once again that he can’t remember the last time he’s been as impressed by a corner as he is with McDuffie.
“He’s my favorite corner in the league after getting here and seeing him work,” Adams said. “I think he’s the best corner in the league and to
see last night was a glimpse of it and I can’t remember when I’ve felt the way I do about him about another corner. He runs that back end and everybody can see what he’s doing and follow right behind, follow his lead.”

The Rams traded a first-round pick and three other selections to the Chiefs for McDuffie this offseason, and the early returns have been phenomenal. He’s allowed just one catch on eight targets for 13 total yards, also intercepting one pass and breaking up three others, per Pro Football Focus.
His 0.0 passer rating allowed is the lowest in the NFL, and it’s not as if he’s gone up against low-end wide receivers. He’s faced Mike Evans and Malik Nabers in the first two weeks, with Jaylen Waddle, Courtland Sutton and DeVonta Smith up next.
Covering Adams and Puka Nacua in practice helps the star cornerback when it comes time to play games, too, so it’s a true case of iron sharpening iron.
