Coming into the season, everyone thought the NFC West would be a dogfight. With the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams, the division features the defending Super Bowl champions and the current favorites to win it all. The San Francisco 49ers are also legitimate contenders, especially after dominating the Rams in Week 1.
What few people expected was the Rams being in last place after the first week of the season. With their 27-7 loss to the 49ers, paired with wins by the Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, the Rams are the only winless team in the division.
The Cardinals' double-digit win over the Chargers was particularly shocking, as former Rams OC Mike LaFleur led his new team to a 26-14 win on the road over Los Angeles. Perhaps the Cardinals won't
be the easy out many people thought they would be.
It’s only one week, but this certainly wasn’t the way the Rams expected to start the season, sitting in the basement of the West.

In Week 2, the Rams host the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium next Monday night, which is 11 days after their opener against the 49ers. In other words, fatigue shouldn't be an issue at all. The Seahawks visit the Cardinals, so one of those teams will be handed its first loss (barring a tie), and the 49ers host the Dolphins as heavy favorites.
The Rams aren't worried about their division rivals just yet, but there's a good chance they'll go into their Monday night matchup trailing both the 49ers and Seahawks by a game and a half, with a loss sending the Rams two games behind.
Despite the Giants' 28-20 win over the Cowboys on Sunday night, it's the Rams who are still big favorites at home, so it's a game they're expected to win.
