Joshua Karty is still searching for a new NFL home, this time auditioning for the New York Jets.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the free agent kicker, who spent his first two NFL seasons with the Rams, worked out for New York. It's Karty's second known tryout since hitting the open market, following an early-August workout with the Tennessee Titans.
The Rams released Karty last November after a rocky sophomore season derailed what had been a promising start to his career. Karty made 85.3% of his field goal attempts as a rookie in 2024, including a perfect postseason, but that number collapsed to 66.7% on just 15 attempts in 2025. Issues with his kickoff technique and a slower stride on field goals were both blamed for the drop-off,
which included several blocked kicks.
Los Angeles moved on from Karty midseason, later finishing 2025 with Harrison Mevis, who missed only one kick the rest of the way. The Rams re-signed Mevis on a one-year tender this offseason and hired Bubba Ventrone to overhaul the special teams unit, closing the door on a Karty return.
Karty spent time on the Rams' practice squad before finishing last season with the Cardinals. Whether the Jets workout leads anywhere remains to be seen, but it's the latest step in Karty's attempt to rebuild his value after a difficult year in Los Angeles.
