Former Los Angeles Rams running back Jarquez Hunter will be looking for a new team after the Miami Dolphins released him on Tuesday.
Hunter, a former fourth-round pick by the Rams in 2025, was traded to the Dolphins this offseason for receiver Tutu Atwell. He was cut days later before rejoining the team after De’Von Achane's season-ending ACL injury in Week 3
The 23-year-old running back appeared in five regular-season games during his rookie season with Los Angeles, playing exclusively on special teams. He also appeared in one postseason game. Hunter did not record any rushing attempts or receptions during his regular-season appearances with the Rams.
The running back showed some promise during the 2026 preseason, leading the Rams with 103 rushing
yards on 21 carries and scoring one touchdown across two exhibition games before the trade.
At Auburn, Hunter was a productive runner, totaling 3,371 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns on 539 carries over four seasons. He also recorded 68 receptions for 558 yards and four touchdowns.
Hunter now becomes a free agent unless another team claims or signs him, leaving his next NFL opportunity uncertain.
