The Los Angeles Rams are 2-3 but still actively pushing for a Super Bowl run. With the NFL trade deadline less than a month away, it would make a lot of sense for Sean McVay and Les Snead to explore the trade market as they look to strengthen their roster for a late-season push.
CBS Sports’ Jared Dubin identified offensive tackle as one of the Rams’ biggest concerns at this point in the season, pointing to uncertainty surrounding Alaric Jackson and the struggles of Warren McClendon. Jackson is suspended for one game and has also had injury issues in the past.
The issue here is with identifying a specific tackle to trade for. Teams don't just trade quality tackles willy-nilly. They keep them around. You'd probably have to try to buy low on someone
who has fallen out of favor or isn't playing well, like an Austin Jackson in Miami. And how attractive is that proposition?
It's unclear if Jackson is actually on the trade block, but it would make sense that a winless Miami Dolphins team could be interested in moving him if a team comes calling.
Jackson, 27, stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 305 pounds. The 2020 first-round pick has started 65 games for Miami, but injuries have limited his availability throughout his career. He made just six starts last season because of a toe injury, and has missed more than half of a season's worth of games in three of his past season years in the NFL. Jackson carries a $6.67 million salary cap hit this season, with a void year in 2027.
It's unclear what Miami would demand in return, but the Dolphins' 2026 season could make them more willing to consider moving veterans as it looks toward building its future.
Jackson is only one possibility for the Rams, who could explore other teams looking to sell before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. The Philadelphia Eagles are another team worth monitoring after trading away Cam Jurgens, though injuries and roster turnover could make them reluctant to part with additional offensive linemen.
For Los Angeles, adding a reliable tackle could provide valuable insurance and help protect Matthew Stafford as the Rams pursue a playoff run.
