The Tennessee Titans could regain one linebacker before Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the position remains a significant concern entering Week 2.
According to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, Cedric Gray has not cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol but will practice Wednesday. Titans coach Robert Saleh remains hopeful that Gray will be available when Tennessee hosts Philadelphia at Nissan Stadium. Gray’s participation represents progress, although he must complete every step of the protocol before being cleared for contact and game action. Tennessee will be without Mohamoud Diabate, who underwent surgery on an injured finger. Saleh said Diabate will miss Sunday’s game but is expected to return next week.
James Williams Sr. will
practice in a noncontact jersey because of an elbow strain. His status will be worth monitoring as the Titans progress through the week of practice.

The uncertainty at linebacker could matter most against an Eagles offense built around Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts. Philadelphia can force second-level defenders to make difficult decisions through zone-read concepts, pre-snap motion, and Hurts’ ability to keep the football.
Barkley rushed for 83 yards on 15 carries in Philadelphia’s 24-22 victory over Washington, while Hurts added 46 yards on the ground. Barkley’s 42-yard run showed how quickly one missed assignment can become an explosive play.
Tennessee allowed Jets running back Breece Hall to gain 102 yards in Week 1. Playing without Diabate, and potentially with Gray or Williams at less than full strength, would make containing Philadelphia’s rushing attack even harder.
