The Eagles and Bears don't meet every season, but their history includes games that have shaped families and left a lasting mark long after the final score. Chicago leads the all-time series 30-17-1, including the postseason. Monday night brings the teams back to Soldier Field for another result to add to the ledger. The most unusual chapter came on Dec. 31, 1988. Dense fog covered Soldier Field during a divisional playoff game, obscuring portions of the action as Chicago beat Philadelphia 20-12. The “Fog Bowl” remains the Bears’ lone postseason victory over the Eagles. Philadelphia answered in a 2001 divisional meeting, winning 33-19.
Another playoff finish gave the series a different kind of lasting image. In January 2019, Cody Parkey’s potential
winning field goal hit an upright (DOINK) and the crossbar. The miss preserved a 16-15 Eagles victory at Soldier Field.
The latest meeting was far less close. Chicago ran for 281 yards in a 24-15 win at Lincoln Financial Field on Nov. 28, 2025. That performance gives Philadelphia a direct football problem to solve Monday: Swift and Monangai can make the run game the center of this matchup.
The old games provide memorable images. Last year’s game provides the more useful warning. If the Eagles want a different result in Chicago, they should start by stopping the run.
