The Eagles are listed at -108 to cover the spread, while Washington is +5.5 at -112. Philadelphia is also a -218 moneyline favorite, meaning bettors would have to wager $218 to win $100 on an outright Eagles victory. The Commanders are +180 underdogs.
DraftKings set the game’s total at 44.5 points. The over is priced at -105, while the under is -115. The spread reflects differing expectations for the two teams. Philadelphia enters the season with one of the NFL’s
deepest rosters and established difference-makers on both sides of the football. Jalen Hurts will lead an offense featuring Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and one of the league’s premier offensive lines. Vic Fangio’s defense returns a talented core led by Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
Washington still possesses the most important ingredient required to threaten a favorite: a dynamic quarterback.
Jayden Daniels can create explosive plays with his arm and legs, while Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo and Jacory Croskey-Merritt give the Commanders several ways to attack Philadelphia’s defense. Both offenses will also debut new coordinators. Sean Mannion will call plays for the Eagles, while David Blough begins his first season directing Washington’s offense. Early communication problems or turnovers could help keep the divisional matchup close. Philadelphia has the superior roster and home-field advantage, making the Eagles a logical favorite. Covering 5.5 points will require Hurts and his teammates to navigate the unpredictability of Week 1 while containing Daniels.
