Eagles running back Will Shipley suffered a partial tear of his plantar fascia during Sunday’s 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and could miss multiple weeks, according to reports Monday from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Shipley started in London with Saquon Barkley sidelined by a hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby on injured reserve. His departure left Philadelphia without its top three running backs and forced Dameon Pierce into the primary role.
Shipley finished with five carries for 6 yards and a 2-yard touchdown before exiting with the foot injury. Pierce carried 11 times for 14 yards, while the Eagles managed just 22 rushing yards on 18 attempts in their third consecutive loss.
The reported diagnosis creates
another challenge for an offense already struggling to sustain drives. Philadelphia scored only three second-half points against Jacksonville, and its depleted backfield offered little support for Jalen Hurts and the passing game.

Pelissero said he's optimistic Barkley could return soon, but his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers remains uncertain. A return would help significantly, though Shipley’s potential absence would still reduce Philadelphia’s depth with Bigsby out. Pierce and Carson Steele are the remaining options behind Barkley on the active roster. If Barkley needs more recovery time, the Eagles could lean on Pierce again while evaluating whether they need another backfield addition.
Shipley’s reported recovery timeline makes Barkley’s practice participation and the team’s next roster decisions important developments heading into Week 6.
