Monday night’s game brings together more than two NFC teams. Players and coaches on both sidelines have spent time with the opponent, giving several matchups a personal connection.
The most visible reunion belongs to D’Andre Swift and T.J. Edwards. Swift rushed for 1,049 yards with Philadelphia in 2023 before moving to Chicago. Now he leads a Bears backfield the Eagles must contain after allowing Chicago 281 rushing yards in last season’s meeting. Edwards also knows Philadelphia well: He developed from an undrafted player into an Eagles starter before joining Chicago. The coaching ties run in both directions. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio held that job with the Bears from 2015 through 2018. Chicago offensive coordinator Press Taylor
spent years on Philadelphia’s staff, beginning in 2013. Their familiarity adds an interesting layer, though neither can assume the other team’s current offense or defense operates as it did during those earlier stops.
Philadelphia backup quarterback Andy Dalton played for Chicago in 2021. Eagles practice squad tackle Kiran Amegadjie is another recent connection to the Bears.
