The Eagles are making a change behind Jalen Hurts before Sunday’s matchup against the Rams.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Tanner McKee will serve as Philadelphia’s No. 2 quarterback, while Andy Dalton moves to the third spot. Garafolo reported the switch on “NFL GameDay Kickoff,” citing sources.

McKee moves ahead of Dalton
The reported decision changes the order Philadelphia used during Monday night’s 27-7 loss to Chicago. Dalton entered when Hurts was evaluated for a concussion and threw an interception on his only pass attempt, targeting Dontayvion
Wicks in the end zone. Hurts was cleared to return, but the interception ended a scoring opportunity while Philadelphia was trying to recover from an early deficit. McKee was listed as the Eagles’ third quarterback for that game.
The Eagles have not publicly explained the reasoning behind Sunday’s reported switch. Dalton’s interception provides context, but it should not be presented as the confirmed cause of the decision.
What the switch means against Los Angeles
If Hurts needs to leave Sunday’s game, McKee would be the first option to replace him. The assignment puts McKee in position to direct an offense already dealing with several significant absences. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown, along with tight end Dallas Goedert, have been ruled out against Los Angeles. Philadelphia needs a cleaner offensive performance after committing three turnovers in Chicago.
