The Philadelphia Eagles have released defensive tackle Gabe Hall as they continue reducing their roster to 53 players, according to Ryan Fowler. Hall originally joined Philadelphia as an undrafted rookie out of Baylor in 2024. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound defensive lineman spent most of his first two seasons on the practice squad but remained in the organization as a developmental interior defender.
Hall made the initial 53-man roster in 2025 and appeared in two regular-season games, including Philadelphia’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. He played 13 defensive snaps before being waived in September and returning to the practice squad. The Eagles signed him to another reserve-future contract in January.
Hall entered training camp competing
for one of the final positions in a crowded defensive tackle room. He recorded two solo tackles during the preseason but was unable to separate himself from Philadelphia’s other developmental options.
His release comes after the Eagles also waived rookie Zion Wilson. Those decisions provide additional clarity behind an established group led by Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Byron Young and Ty Robinson. Seventh-round rookie Uar Bernard appears to be in a stronger position to make the initial roster, while David Blay Jr. remains another player under consideration.
Hall will be subject to the waiver process before he can become a free agent. If he clears, a return to Philadelphia’s practice squad remains possible because of his experience in the system and familiarity with Vic Fangio’s defense.
The Eagles have retained Hall after previous roster cuts, but he now has an opportunity to determine whether another team offers a clearer path to playing time.
