The Eagles lost 19-17 to the Jaguars in London on Sunday after Cam Little’s winning field goal erased Jake Elliott’s late kick. Philadelphia fell to 2-3 with its third consecutive defeat after leading 14-7 at halftime. Little finished 2-for-2 on field goals, with a 57-yarder, after missing the extra point following Parker Washington’s fourth-quarter touchdown. That miss kept Philadelphia within two points and gave Elliott an opportunity to put the Eagles ahead.
The kicking finish followed another difficult second half for Philadelphia’s offense. The Eagles led 14-7 at halftime but managed only three points after the break, punting on six of eight second-half possessions. Jalen Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown. Philadelphia rushed
for just 22 yards on 18 attempts and finished with 232 total yards, compared with Jacksonville’s 408.
Washington caught six passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, including a 27-yard fourth-down scoring reception that gave Jacksonville a 16-14 lead. Jalen Carter recorded two sacks and two forced fumbles, and Quinyon Mitchell intercepted Trevor Lawrence for his first regular-season pick. Those defensive contributions weren't enough to keep Philadelphia from falling to 2-3.
As preparation for the Panthers begins, here are five takeaways from the stunning loss.
Jalen Hurts and the offense stalled after halftime
Hurts finished 21-for-40 for 220 yards and one touchdown. Philadelphia scored three second-half points and punted on six of eight possessions after the break.
The running game could not support the offense
The Eagles gained 22 yards on 18 rushing attempts, with a six-yard run as the longest. Dameon Pierce led the team with 14 yards on 11 carries after Will Shipley left with a foot injury.
Jalen Carter’s disruption deserved a better result
Carter recorded five tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Jacksonville recovered both fumbles, limiting the turnover benefit of his pressure.
Injuries forced more changes across the lineup
Shipley, Jalyx Hunt and Michael Carter II were ruled out. Tyler Steen was listed as questionable to return with a shoulder injury, and Fred Johnson took over at right guard.
Defensive opportunities went unconverted
Quinyon Mitchell’s first regular-season interception and a fourth-quarter goal-line stop gave Philadelphia opportunities to protect its lead. The offense did not capitalize, and Jacksonville eventually won despite finishing without a red-zone touchdown on three trips.
