Jihaad Campbell’s tackling has been among the NFL’s most reliable over five games, offering an encouraging note in an uneven start for the Eagles’second-year linebacker.
PFF lists Campbell with a 2.1% missed-tackle rate, the third-lowest among defenders with at least 25 tackles. Only Bobby Okereke and Kevin Winston Jr., both at 0.0%, rank ahead of him. Evan Williams (2.3%) and Daiyan Henley (2.6%) round out the top five.PFF has charged Campbell with one missed tackle while crediting him with 29 solo stops. He has also generated five pressures, including one sack, giving Philadelphia some production when he attacks the quarterback.

His production in pass coverage has the former Crimson Tide star in jeopardy of being benched. Campbell has a 50.6 PFF coverage grade, currently 51st among 72 qualifying linebackers, and has allowed a 111.1 passer rating when targeted. His 53.0 overall defensive grade ranks 61st at the position. The rest of his grading reflects that uneven performance: a 53.1 run-defense grade ranks 62nd among linebackers, while his 69.2 pass-rush grade ranks 25th.
Those numbers provide context as the Eagles prepare to rotate Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Tuesday that Trotter earned more playing time when Zack Baun was unavailable.
“I just think he deserves playing time,” Fangio said.
Fangio described a rotation organized by series. The Eagles intended to use it against Jacksonville, but Trotter’s ejection on the opening kickoff prevented that plan from taking shape.
Carolina presents another test of Campbell’s overall game. Bryce Young’s quick decisions and the Panthers’ balance can challenge linebackers in coverage and against the run, so positioning and recognition matter as much as reliable tackling. Campbell’s low missed tackle rate gives Philadelphia something to build on. Improving his coverage and run defense would give Fangio more reason to trust him with a larger share of the work as the Eagles try to end a three-game losing streak.
