Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is joining Netflix’s coverage of the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia. Foles will serve as a studio analyst when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The NFC West matchup will stream live Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET and 5:35 p.m. PT, with kickoff set for the following morning in Melbourne.
Elle Duncan will host the studio coverage alongside Foles, Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin and former All-Pro linebacker Clay Matthews III. Noah Eagle and Luke Kuechly will call the game from the booth. The assignment places Foles on one of the NFL’s most significant international broadcasts. The Rams will serve as the designated home team
as the league expands its regular-season schedule into another global market.

Foles retired from the NFL in 2024 after an 11-year career, but his place in Philadelphia history was secured long before his final snap. He replaced an injured Carson Wentz during the 2017 season and guided the Eagles through the playoffs before defeating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Foles completed 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns in Philadelphia’s 41-33 victory. He also caught a touchdown on the “Philly Special,” one of the most recognizable plays in Super Bowl history, and earned the game’s Most Valuable Player award.
His quarterback background should offer viewers insight into offensive strategy, preparation and the pressure surrounding a high-profile season opener. Irvin and Matthews will provide perspectives from the receiver and defensive sides. Netflix has expanded its NFL inventory after beginning with Christmas Day games. The Australia matchup will place Foles on a studio set featuring accomplished personalities from several generations of football.
For Eagles fans, the game offers another chance to see their Super Bowl hero on an NFL stage—this time analyzing the action instead of creating it.
