The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-1 and tied for first in the NFC East, but their record doesn't tell the full story of an uneven start. Philadelphia followed narrow victories over the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans with a 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Eagles have scored 55 points, allowed 69 and been outgained by 54 yards through three games.
Their statistical profile reflects a team still searching for consistency on both sides of the football. The offense sits in the bottom third of the NFL in several major categories, while the defense remains the league’s only unit without a takeaway.
Here is how the Eagles rank among all 32 NFL teams entering Week 4.
Total offense: No. 24
Philadelphia has generated 907 yards, averaging 302.3 per game. The Eagles
produced 341 yards against Tennessee but managed only 248 during their loss in Chicago.
Scoring offense: No. 23
The Eagles are averaging 18.3 points. Their seven touchdowns are tied for 13th, but Philadelphia has scored only six third-quarter points and remains the NFL’s only team without a first-quarter point.
Passing offense: No. 28
Philadelphia has produced 575 net passing yards, averaging 191.7 per game. Jalen Hurts has completed 64.2% of his passes with five touchdowns and four interceptions.
DeVonta Smith has provided the most consistent production, but the Eagles have struggled to build a sustained passing-game rhythm beyond isolated explosive plays.
Rushing offense: No. 14
The Eagles have rushed for 332 yards, averaging 110.7 per game and 4.4 yards per attempt.
Saquon Barkley’s 82-yard performance against Chicago offered encouragement, although 73 of those yards came before halftime. Philadelphia must stay committed to the run when it produces results.
Third-down offense: No. 7
Philadelphia has converted 19 of 41 third downs, a 46.3% success rate. That number is one of the offense’s strongest marks, although the Eagles converted only two of nine opportunities against Chicago.
Red-zone offense: Tied for No. 9
The Eagles have scored touchdowns on six of nine red-zone possessions, producing a 66.7% conversion rate. Their problems have involved reaching the red zone consistently rather than finishing once they arrive.
Giveaways: Tied for No. 27
Philadelphia has committed five turnovers through three games. Hurts has thrown four interceptions, while Tank Bigsby fumbled against Chicago.
The Eagles have traditionally protected the football under Hurts. Their early turnover problems have helped produce a minus-five differential, tied for 28th in the NFL.
Total defense: No. 13
Philadelphia has allowed 961 yards, or 320.3 per game. The defense opened the season with respectable performances against Washington and Tennessee before surrendering 375 yards to Chicago.
Passing defense: No. 8
The Eagles have allowed 620 gross passing yards, or 206.7 per game. That ranking looks respectable, but opposing quarterbacks have thrown five touchdown passes while producing too many easy completions in the middle of the field.
Rushing defense: No. 24
Opponents have rushed for 382 yards, averaging 127.3 per game. Philadelphia held Chicago to 3.7 yards per carry but faced 35 rushing attempts as the Bears controlled possession and game flow.
Scoring defense: No. 16
The Eagles are allowing 23 points per game. Chicago became the first opponent to score more than 22 points against Philadelphia, but the defense has yet to produce the game-changing plays an inconsistent offense needs.
Third-down defense: No. 13
Opponents have converted 16 of 41 third downs, a 39% rate. Philadelphia has delivered stops in stretches but has struggled to get off the field when penalties or coverage breakdowns extend possessions.
Sacks: Tied for No. 29
The Eagles have recorded three sacks. Jonathan Greenard generated two pressures in his season debut, but Philadelphia needs more consistent disruption from its defensive front.
Takeaways: No. 32
Philadelphia is the NFL’s only team without a takeaway through three games. The Eagles have not recovered a fumble or intercepted a pass, producing the first such three-game start in franchise history.
That drought represents the biggest statistical concern entering Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford will test Philadelphia’s coverage rules, while an opportunistic Rams defense will challenge an Eagles offense already responsible for five giveaways.
Final analysis
The Eagles’ 907 offensive yards rank 24th, while their 961 yards allowed place the defense around the middle of the league. Their zero takeaways and minus-five turnover differential are the clearest statistical alarms.
The Eagles have done enough to win two games, but their rankings show how narrow the margin has been. Improving their ball security, pass rush, and second-half offense would be the fastest path to becoming the contender they were expected to be.
