The timing creates considerable uncertainty for the Bears, who are scheduled to host the Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 3. The extra day before the game gives Chicago more time to evaluate Williams, but a significant injury would put Bagent in position to start against Vic Fangio’s defense. Philadelphia will begin preparing for Chicago after completing Sunday’s road game against the Tennessee Titans. The Eagles’ initial game plan will likely account for both quarterbacks until the Bears clarify their situation.
Williams entered Week 2 after helping Chicago score 59 points in its season-opening victory over Carolina. His mobility, arm talent, and ability to extend plays would present a significantly different challenge than Bagent.
