Makai Lemon will make his Eagles debut Friday night after completing a lengthy pregame workout ahead of Philadelphia’s preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. The rookie wide receiver and first-round pick missed the Eagles’ first two preseason games while dealing with a hamstring injury that also limited his practice time. Philadelphia will finally get a game look at one of its most intriguing offensive additions before the regular season begins.
Lemon returned to full practice Monday, giving him an opportunity to resume work after an interrupted training camp. Friday provides another step in that process, with game reps offering a different test as he learns offensive coordinator Sean Mannion’s system.

For Lemon, there is value in everything from getting lined up correctly to adjusting routes against NFL coverage. With so much practice time lost, even a limited appearance would give him something to build on heading into Week 1.
Philadelphia has options at receiver, with DeVonta Smith leading a group that includes Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown. Lemon’s development adds another variable as the Eagles determine how to distribute opportunities in their new offense. Getting through the finale healthy while gaining experience would be a productive finish to a frustrating summer for the rookie.
