The Philadelphia Eagles are moving on from one of the undrafted rookies who generated attention throughout training camp. Philadelphia has released defensive back Maximus Pulley, according to Ryan Fowler. As an undrafted rookie, Pulley must pass through waivers before becoming a free agent.
Pulley signed with the Eagles following the 2026 NFL draft after completing a decorated career at Wofford. He earned FCS All-America honors after recording 85 tackles, 10 passes defended and a conference-leading five interceptions during his final season. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns and was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound safety carried that playmaking reputation into Philadelphia’s offseason program. Pulley
flashed instincts and physicality during training camp before receiving extended opportunities on defense and special teams throughout the preseason.
Pulley remained active around the football during Philadelphia’s preseason finale against Cincinnati, but the Eagles had limited space in a secondary featuring Marcus Epps, Andrew Mukuba, Michael Carter II and Cooper DeJean’s positional versatility.
The decision does not necessarily end Pulley’s time in Philadelphia. His athletic ability, production and familiarity with Vic Fangio’s defense could make him a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers.
