The Philadelphia Eagles are adjusting their normal road schedule to prepare for potentially extreme temperatures during Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans. According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles will travel to Nashville on Friday
, one day earlier than they typically leave for a road game. Temperatures are expected to approach 100 degrees during Sunday’s game at Nissan Stadium.The additional day should give Philadelphia’s players more time to acclimate to the conditions, hydrate, and recover from the flight before taking the field. Philadelphia followed a similar plan before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneerslast season and left Florida with a victory. That experience likely influenced the decision to adjust
the travel schedule again.
The heat could affect substitution patterns and snap counts, especially along both lines of scrimmage. Philadelphia may have to rotate its defensive linemen more frequently to keep the group fresh, while the offensive line will be tasked with sustaining blocks in difficult conditions. Conditioning could become especially important if either offense puts together extended drives. The Eagles controlled several games during their Super Bowl run by leaning on Saquon Barkley and a physical rushing attack that wore down opposing defenses.
Philadelphia will want to establish that same advantage against Tennessee without allowing the heat to drain its own offensive front. The Eagles cannot completely duplicate Sunday’s conditions during practice, but arriving early gives the team additional time to adjust.
