The Philadelphia Eagles’ preseason finale will feature several critical evaluations across the entire roster, not simply at the most obvious position battles. Some players are trying to secure jobs. Others want to improve their place in the rotation or demonstrate that Philadelphia can trust them in a specific role.
Here is one player to watch at each position against Cincinnati, subject to the final playing-time decisions.
Quarterback: Tanner McKee
McKee needs to finish the preseason with the same decisive approach he showed against New England. The objective is not a particular yardage total. It is operating the offense efficiently and avoiding unnecessary mistakes.
Running back: Dameon Pierce
Pierce has returned to full participation after missing time with a hamstring issue. He needs to show that
he's a triple threat as a runner, pass protector, and special-teams value that warrants a place in a crowded backfield.
Wide receiver: Darius Cooper
Cooper has made a strong case for the roster. A final productive performance would reinforce that his camp success can translate into dependable game-day work.
Tight end: Cameron Latu
Latu’s opportunity includes blocking and receiving. With injuries affecting other tight ends, he can show that Philadelphia should retain a player capable of handling multiple assignments.
Left tackle: Myles Hinton
Hinton needs steady protection snaps. His value increases if the Eagles believe he can help at more than one position without creating a significant drop in performance.
Left guard: Michael Jordan
Jordan’s experience is useful, but younger interior linemen have made the competition difficult. He needs to show that his reliability is worth protecting on the initial roster.
