The Philadelphia Eagles lost their fourth consecutive game Sunday, falling 25-14 to the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field as another ineffective offensive performance overshadowed signs of progress from Tanner McKee.
Making his first start of the season with Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, McKee completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Philadelphia generated 222 total yards, rushed for just 35 and punted eight times. Dameon Pierce scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, finishing a 10-play, 78-yard drive that cut Carolina’s halftime lead to 10-7. The Eagles failed to score in the third quarter.
McKee found DeVonta Smith for a 19-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 19-14.
Smith finished with seven catches for 75 yards in his return from a hamstring injury, while Dallas Goedert added six receptions for 61 yards. The opportunity to complete a comeback disappeared quickly. After the defense forced a punt, Philadelphia’s next possession went backward. A bad snap and blocked punt helped Carolina regain control, and Bryce Young’s second touchdown pass to Tommy Tremble extended the lead to 25-14.
Young finished with 281 passing yards and two touchdowns. Chuba Hubbard rushed for 120 yards and a score on 28 carries, helping Carolina finish with 399 yards and nearly 35 minutes of possession.
Philadelphia committed 11 penalties for 84 yards, while Carolina drew 13 flags for 149 yards. Neither team lost a turnover. The Eagles also lost Nolan Smith to a concussion, Carson Steele to a shoulder injury, and Jordan Davis to an ankle injury.
Philadelphia dropped to 2-4, while Carolina improved to 3-2. The Eagles host Dallas next Monday night, beginning three consecutive NFC East games with their offense still searching for answers and their injury list continuing to grow.
