The Super Bowl will air on ESPN this season, which means NFL fans can expect a steady stream of reminders. There's also a chance that when hype reels are created, Philadelphia Eagles fans will catch glimpses of one of the greatest nights in franchise history.

ESPN recently released a social media installment of its I Scored a Touchdown series. It features former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. He was allowed to reflect on his memorable touchdown reception in Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots.

It was a fantastic
evening. Most who witnessed it will reference the Philly Special or Brandon Graham's iconic strip-sack, but there were so many other moments that made the night so special.
No Eagles fan has forgotten Nick Foles' bomb to Alshon Jeffery. His pirouette in the back of the end zone over a former Eagle, Eric Rowe, was a work of art. We later learned he played the entire postseason with a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
As it turns out, as Jeffery mentions, the ball wasn't even supposed to come his way. That revelation only adds another layer to a play that already occupies a permanent place in Eagles lore.
As memorable as Jeffery's deep touchdown from Foles in the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings was, his score against New England carried even greater significance. It helped break a 3-3 tie and build momentum. It provided an early reminder that Philadelphia wasn't intimidated by Tom Brady and the defending champions. Younger fans may not fully appreciate what that moment meant.
Before Super Bowl LII, the Eagles were one of the NFL's most successful franchises without a Lombardi Trophy. Their championships in 1948, 1949, and 1960 all came before the Super Bowl era. Generations of fans spent decades waiting for the breakthrough. That changed on Feb. 4, 2018.
Thanks in large part to the leadership of Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman, Doug Pederson, and a resilient roster that refused to accept its underdog label, the Eagles finally climbed the mountain. They have since added a second Lombardi Trophy, but the first will always carry a special place in franchise history.
Nearly a decade later, the emotions remain easy to understand. Jeffery appeared moved while revisiting the memory, and Eagles fans probably felt something similar while watching. All touchdowns are worth six points. Some are worth more than the point total. Some become part of a city's story forever.
