Jonathan Greenard has not received the volume of physical practice repetitions the Eagles would have preferred, but Jordan Davis does not believe that will prevent the veteran edge rusher from making a quick impact.

Davis has been impressed by Greenard’s communication inside the defensive line room. The veteran regularly shares what he sees and discusses how defenders can capitalize on opportunities in a given
call. Vic Fangio’s defense establishes each player’s responsibility, but experienced defenders can identify moments when the scheme gives them freedom to attack. Davis believes Greenard has shown an advanced understanding of when those opportunities are available. Philadelphia acquired Greenard to strengthen a pass rush that will rely on several new pieces. His experience should also benefit Nolan Smith Jr., Jalyx Hunt and the Eagles’ other young edge defenders. The Eagles will need to manage Greenard carefully as he works toward game readiness. He must also continue learning the terminology and details of Fangio’s system after previously playing under Brian Flores in Minnesota.
Davis, however, does not anticipate Greenard’s missed practice time becoming a significant obstacle. His experience and preparation should allow him to transition into the defense once he is cleared for a full workload.
