Lane Johnson remained absent from Philadelphia Eagles training camp Wednesday, marking the fourth consecutive practice the veteran right tackle has missed.
Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Johnson’s absence is for a non-injury-related reason and that he is expected to return soon. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that Johnson has been away from the Eagles for four days because of a personal situation.
No additional details about the matter have been disclosed. The reports provide important clarification because Johnson underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process after suffering a Lisfranc injury during the 2025 season. That injury sidelined him for the final seven regular-season games and Philadelphia’s wild-card loss to
the San Francisco 49ers.

Johnson announced in February that he would return for his 14th NFL season, providing stability for an offensive line undergoing a coaching transition. The six-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All-Pro remains one of Philadelphia’s most valuable players and an essential part of the protection surrounding Jalen Hurts.

Johnson is expected to return soon, from what I understand.
His absence has created additional practice repetitions for the Eagles’ reserve tackles. Fred Johnson is the most experienced backup and has previously started in Lane Johnson’s place. Myles Hinton, Hollin Pierce and rookie Markel Bell are also navigating a competitive training camp.
Philadelphia has no reason to rush Johnson back while he handles the personal matter. The veteran understands the offense, has extensive experience alongside the other starters and does not need every August repetition to prepare for the regular season.
The encouraging development is that Johnson’s absence is not connected to another injury. Unless the timetable changes, the Eagles expect their starting right tackle to rejoin the team soon.
